29th Annual St. Lucie County Amateur – November 2nd & 3rd, 2024
Tim Gavrich of Vero Beach made it two in a row by defeating Michael Conti of West Palm Beach in a one-hole playoff. Both competitors finished at plus one over the two windy and sometimes rainy days at Fairwinds. Gavrich holed a par saving putt on the 18th hole to capture his second consecutive St. Lucie County Amateur title. Kevin Altenhof of Melbourne shot the low round of Sunday with a bogey free 69 to win the Senior Division by one shot over Scott Snyder. Pat Mayne fired 77-78 to capture the Ladies Division. Congratulations to all the division winners. The St. Lucie County Amateur is one event of a series of five tournaments. Players are awarded points in each event attempting to qualify for the Eastern Amateur Championship to be held in January.

2024 Al Griffith St. Lucie High School Championship
Jaden Petersen’s 5-under par 67 led Lincoln Park Academy to a 2 shot victory over Treasure Coast High in the 43rd Annual Al Griffith St. Lucie County High School Championship. Petersen’s stelar round was highlighted by a 5-under par 31 on the closing nine holes. Treasure Coast High’s David Alvarez fired a one over par 73 to claim co-runnerup honors in both the individual and team competition. Ryan Lavoie also came in at 73 leading his John Carroll team to a third place finish. Named after long-time PGA Professional at Indian Hills Golf Course the St. Lucie County High School Championship is one of the oldest continuously running high school events in Florida. Al was a true friend to junior golf in our community who spent countless hours providing a welcoming environment for all young people. This year seven high schools are competing in the event.
